Tramontina Expands U.S. Cookware Production Capabilities

Tramontina USA will expand its cookware production capabilities at its Manitowoc, Wis., plant to meet the growing trend and demand for color and ceramic-coated cookware. The new production line is expected to be operational by spring 2014.

Since 2005, Sugar Land, Texas-based Tramontina USA has been manufacturing aluminum nonstick cookware at its Manitowoc facility. The plant now produces more than 50,000 units per day. Tramontina’s growing U.S.-based manufacturing and assembly capabilities build on the company’s well-established strengths in product development, packaging, warehousing, marketing and distribution.

“We are excited about increasing production of our ‘Made in the USA’ products to include a variety of colors and ceramic-coated cookware. We’ve seen tremendous growth and opportunity both with retailers who want to carry quality ‘Made in the USA’ products at competitive pricing and with consumers, who more than ever are wanting to buy domestic-made products,” said Antonio Galafassi, president and CEO of Tramontina USA.

The advantages of domestic production include speed to market and superior quality control and customer service, the company said. By manufacturing and warehousing in the United States, Tramontina can offer lower minimum quantities and greater flexibility in cookware finishes and customization, and it can also ensure compliance with ethical manufacturing standards.

With its current production line in Manitowoc, Tramontina has steadily invested to improve equipment and streamline operations to manufacture aluminum nonstick cookware in a variety of finishes, including porcelain enamel exterior with nonstick; hard anodized with and without nonstick; commercial-grade aluminum alloy 3004 with and without nonstick; mirror-polished aluminum alloy 3004 with nonstick; and colored exterior nonstick.
