Green Mountain Co-Pack (GMCP), the Vermont boutique-style specialty food and beverage manufacturer, has built a new 20,000-square-foot production facility in Williston, Vt., and is joining forces with Thirsty Ventures Inc., parent company of Powell & Mahoney Ltd. Vintage Original Cocktail Mixers, to increase output, reduce turnaround times and enhance quality.
“We see exciting things in the future,” said Jeff Mitchell, GMCP’s founder. “It is great to see the company grow, but I am also excited about tasting all the excellent new, natural foods and beverages we will be able to produce. ”
As GMCP settles into its new facility, the company will quadruple its workforce to 20 employees. The new location will have two independent production lines, allowing GMCP to offer a broad diversity of products and increase output twentyfold. The new state-of-the-art cooling system will ensure consistent, accurate and high-quality products, regardless of fill temperature or batch size.
Though GMCP expects to expand significantly in the coming years, it will continue to produce in small, craft-batched kettles, allowing for thoughtfully blended ingredients and unwavering attention to quality.
GMCP’s new production lines will also offer a stepping stone for smaller craft producers looking to expand their geographic reach. Experts are available to consult clients on commercial recipe development and production of organic, all-natural and conventional drinks, sauces, condiments, beverages and other foods.
For more than seven years, Green Mountain Co-Pack has delivered quality for its clients, and the new partnership will provide tremendous growth potential.
“This move will allow GMCP to provide a wider array of offerings, without diminishing the commitment to quality that got the company where it is today,” said Mark Mahoney, Thirsty Ventures’ president. Powell & Mahoney was founded by Brian Powell, former EVP of Stirrings, and Mahoney. Based on the goal to capture the clean and classic tastes of some of America’s original cocktails, the company produces vintage mixers such as the Bloody Mary, Cosmopolitan, Bellini, Mojito, Ginger, Red Sangria, Hot Toddy and Margarita, made with all-natural ingredients.
“Green Mountain Co-Pack is very fortunate to be located in Vermont, a state that supports small businesses and has helped us build this great company,” said Mitchell. “I look forward to adding players to our team and watching GMCP’s evolution into its full potential.”
Vermont has a long-standing reputation beyond the geographical boundaries of New England for producing high-quality, all-natural specialty foods and beverages. Vermont continues to be at the forefront of the natural food and beverage movement, which accounts for more than $1.2 billion in positive economic impact for the state each year.
