Source Atlantique Acquires Peloponnese Brand

Source Atlantique Inc., based in Englewood Cliffs, N.J., has acquired the Peloponnese brand and business from Hormel Foods Corp.

Peloponnese products comprise a variety of authentic Mediterranean foods harvested, processed and imported from Greece. The Peloponnese range consists of a variety of foods including olives, spreads, grape leaves, roasted sweet peppers and sesame tahini.

The managements of Source Atlantique and Hormel Foods view this acquisition as an opportunity to add value for both Peloponnese and Source Atlantique’s portfolio of premium brands and products.

“Acquiring Peloponnese presents us with wonderful new opportunities. The Peloponnese brand and products practically define the Mediterranean diet and its health benefits,” said Joel Schuman, Source Atlantique’s president.

“Peloponnese falls in a sweet spot at the crossroads between specialty/gourmet and natural/health. A high percentage of our existing customers already carry Peloponnese, which gives us a great base to start from,” he said.

Source Atlantique is an independent importer/master distributor of specialty foods and represents brands such as Maille, Modenaceti, Tiptree, Blue Dragon, La Baleine, D’arbo and If You Care, among others.
