SIAL Canada and SET Canada Unveil 2013 Schedule

SIAL Canada and SET Canada are extending an invitation to all attendees to participate in their free conference program during the show April 30 to May 2 in Toronto.
Industry experts will be presenting 22 sessions on hot topics, latest product breakthroughs and new business opportunities.
The following is the lineup of foodservice and restaurant-specific presentations as well as American market trends during the conference:
- Overview of the Canadian Chain Restaurant Landscape, presented by Melissa Wilson, principal at Technomic.
- How to Increase Your Profits with Beverages, presented by Amato De Civita, president and owner of Wine Awakenings.
- An Overview of North America’s Current Food Trends and Concepts also presented by Wilson.
- Being Innovative to Stay on Top in Today’s Foodservice Market, presented by panelists Peter Henderson, managing director of Ideovation; Rebecca LeHeup, Ontario Culinary Tourism Alliance; Chef David Chrystian, Top Chef Canada, Victor Restaurant; Tim Gilks, Ojai Futures Trading; and Amy Proulx, Canadian Food and Wine Institute at Niagara College. The panel will discuss how to keep on top by constantly evolving with foodservice trends and creating your own.
- The Canadian Foodservice Market, presented by Brad Bloom, director of sales at CHD (Excellence in Global Foodservice Information).
- Sustainability in Foodservice, presented by Chris Roberts, director of corporate citizenship at Sodexo.
A presentation on food packaging, titled Communicating Through Packaging Design, will be presented by Sylvain Allard, design professor at UQAM University, while Paul Medeiros from Food Safety and Management at Guelph Food and Technology Centre will present a session on food safety. Cascades’ Industrial Packaging Technical and Business Development Director Islem Yezza will present Smart Packaging, and share his company’s recent research on intelligent and active packaging. Meanwhile, Diane Bisson from Edible Project will present on the topic of Edible Packaging, and Carole Sweep from the Guelph Food Technology Centre will present on socially responsible and durable packaging. Isabelle Marquis, innovation expert at SIAL Canada, will discuss the historical implications on the future of packaging.
In addition to the sessions above, 10 more presentations will be held during the show by companies and presenters such as Nielsen, XTC World Innovation, Carol Fazari, IGD, AFI, Fast International and Canada’s Kosher Certifier. Click here for more information on the conference program.
