Three seminars offered at the summer edition of the New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF) have been approved by the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC) as credit-earning in its continuing education program.
Each of the following sessions will earn attendees 0.1 CEU credit: “Open House – What’s Hot in Home Design?” on Aug. 19; “Color Trends and Practical Applications” on Aug. 20; and “Double Dossier: Fashion Designers on Home. Home Design Redefined” on Aug. 21.
“Education is a major part of NYIGF, and there’s a full slate of seminars scheduled for market week,” said Christian Falkenberg, NYIGF director and GLM vice president. “These CEU-accredited programs offer design professionals the opportunity to earn credits in connection with NYIGF.”
“Open House – What’s Hot in Home Design?” will cover trends influencing home products, from materials and color to commerce and branding. Warren Shoulberg of Sandow Media will moderate the panel discussion, which includes Susan Feldman, One Kings Lane co-founder and chief merchandising officer, and Laurie Pressman, Pantone vice president fashion, home + interiors.
The New York Chapter of the International Furnishings & Design Association (IFDA) will sponsor “Color Trends and Practical Applications.” During this exploration of color theory and its practical applications, Doty Horn of Color Voyant, a color marketing company, will preview color trends for 2013-14, and Lisa White, creative director of WGSN-Homebuildlife, the leading online trend-analysis and research service, will present their seasonal Macro Trends, which predict interior and fashion translations of these color directions.
The Fashion Group International (FGI) presents “Double Dossier: Fashion Designers on Home. Home Design Redefined.” Moderator Lisa White, creative director of WGSN-Homebuildlife, leads a discussion of lifestyle trends between the worlds of fashion apparel and home design – and the ways in which designers and manufacturers are influencing the way we live and dress. Panelists include acclaimed artist and fashion designer Ralph Rucci of the Ralph Rucci Company; Dan Saginario, operating vice president, brand marketing for home at HSN; and Josie Natori, founder and CEO of The Natori Company.
All three seminars will take place in room 1A02-03 of the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.
NYIGF’s summer market takes place Aug. 18-22 at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Piers 92 and 94. Approximately 35,000 attendees from all 50 states and more than 80 countries worldwide are expected to attend. Information and registration are available at www.nyigf.com.
