Navitas Naturals, a Novato, Calif.-based organic “superfoods” company, has marked its upcoming 10th anniversary with the acquisition of additional commercial space and expansion of its production capacity.
Owners Zach Adelman and Wesley Crain purchased the buildings for the new Navitas Naturals campus, taking the company’s square footage to 23,000 square feet from 13,500. The expansion allows Navitas to double production capacity and add two new production lines.
Another added feature is a kitchen studio where the company can produce its own recipe videos, product photos and other digital marketing assets to help inform customers about the benefits of superfoods.
“Our Novato location is convenient for food import commerce,” said Adelman. “It’s close to the transit benefits of U.S. 101 Redwood Highway, and our facility is in close proximity to the shipping port in Oakland, where many of our products are landed in shipping containers from around the world.”
Navitas sources, processes and packages popular organic superfoods such as raw cacao, chia seeds, maca, goji berries, acai, hemp seeds, pomegranate powder, goldenberries and more.
Adelman founded the company in 2003. Navitas imports organic foods from around the world to its warehouse and production facility, and then sells them to stores in the United States as well as Canada, Norway, the United Kingdom and China. A growing portion of the company’s business is Internet sales through the Navitas Web site and Amazon.com.
Navitas Naturals has more than 50 employees and is hiring for several new positions in production, customer service, sales, marketing, shipping and administration. The company has added six staff members so far in 2012, and plans to hire six more employees before the end of the year.
