The Magisso Serving Set by designer Maria Kivijärvi and the Magisso Teacup by designers Vesa Jääskö and Laura Bougdanos have both been given the GOOD DESIGN award by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies.
The Magisso Serving Set consists of three unique tableware items: Pie Server, Cheese Knife and Cheese Slicer. All the Serving Set products can be set sideways on the table so the blade of the product doesn’t soil the tablecloth. The Magisso Teacup features a unique triangular bottom. It is easy to adjust the strength of tea by tilting the teacup so the strainer side of the cup is lower. By tilting the teacup again, the tea is ready to be enjoyed while the leaves in the strainer spread their natural fragrance, enhancing the flavor of the tea.
Founded in Chicago in 1950 by architects and designers Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, and Edgar Kaufmann Jr., GOOD DESIGN is the oldest and the world’s most recognized program for design excellence worldwide.
The GOOD DESIGN program receives submissions from several thousand of the world’s leading manufacturers, and industrial and graphic design firms.
Magisso, from Finland, has already received positive reviews from CNN, InStyle, GQ, Wired, Fast Company and Apartment Therapy. The company’s ongoing mission is to create unique products that will improve everyday life. Magisso products are currently sold in more than 30 countries.
