Keurig Green Mountain Inc. and Dr Pepper Snapple (DPS) Group are partnering to develop a selection of Dr Pepper Snapple Group’s iconic brands for the forthcoming Keurig Cold at-home beverage system.
“With Keurig Cold, we’ve leveraged Keurig innovation to make it possible for consumers to create great-tasting cold beverages at home with the one-touch simplicity of Keurig. We’re very excited to offer a range of Dr Pepper Snapple’s iconic brands in the system at launch,” said Lori Tauber Marcus, Keurig’s chief product officer, Keurig Cold Systems.
As a part of this multiyear agreement, Keurig will be the exclusive producer of single-serve, pod-based carbonated DPS brands utilizing fountain syrup in the Keurig Cold platform in the United States and Canada.
“Our team is committed to building and enhancing our leading brands, and this agreement presents an opportunity to reach consumers in new occasions,” said Jim Trebilcock, DPS executive vice president of marketing. “We’re looking forward to working with Keurig to bring our brands to this innovative new platform.”
Launching in the fall of 2015, Keurig Cold will offer consumers a convenient way to enjoy cold beverages made at home, including carbonated drinks, enhanced waters, juice drinks, sports drinks and teas with the similar one-touch simplicity of its hot system platform, Keurig said in a statement.
The companies did not disclose the specific terms of the agreement.
In February 2014, Keurig signed a 10-year agreement to collaborate on the development and introduction of The Coca-Cola Co.’s global brand portfolio for use in Keurig Cold at-home beverage system. As part of that agreement, Coca-Cola acquired a 10 percent minority equity position in Keurig and subsequently announced its intention to increase its stake up to 16 percent.
Coca-Cola is also partnering on Keurig’s hot beverage system, with Honest Tea, the nation’s No. 1 organic bottled iced tea, being the first of several Coca-Cola brands now available in K-Cup packs.
