Atlanta-based craft ice cream company High Road is ramping up to a new level of growth as it rapidly expands its reach across the country, increasing its lines of production.
The company has outgrown its original factory location and will be moving into a new 25,000-square-foot Atlanta facility in late summer, complete with a new visitor’s center, opening its doors to more locals and visitors for ice cream tours as well as the opportunities that can be met with increased production.
High Road is constantly working on new product lines to add to its lineup of more than 100 flavors. The new “Big Kid Collection” harks back to chef/founder Keith Schroeder’s love of childhood candy bars, thus leading to more refined, adult versions: The Jokester, a malted vanilla ice cream studded with milk chocolate chunks and handmade nougat, caramel, and salted peanuts (akin to a Snickers bar); Mr. Butterpants, a nod to the famous Reese’s Cup, a milk chocolate ice cream swirled with peanut butter ganache and dark chocolate chunks; Bakesale, featuring old-fashioned, handmade pecan brownies and chocolate chip cookies in a sweet cream ice cream; and Aunt Hazel, an interpretation of the hazelnut-and-chocolate combination that’s popular in spreads and candies, with a ribbon of chocolate ganache and salt-and-pepper hazelnuts in a chocolate hazelnut ice cream.
“Think handcrafted candy bars and boutique sweet shop offerings meet decadent ice cream,” described Nicki Schroeder, the company’s chief marketing officer. High Road’s ice creams are available in pints, pans and tubs. Additionally, High Road Roadsters are the company’s ice cream swirled with mix-ins in portable bar form.
Schroeder funneled his passion for ice cream into a business plan for High Road while getting his MBA. A foodservice professional with 20 years of experience under his belt, Schroeder felt confident that he could provide his fellow chefs and hospitality industry professionals with the tools to elevate their dessert offerings.
