Frontier Soups in Gurnee, Ill., has expanded its operations into a larger facility to accommodate the steady growth of its non-GMO, gourmet soup mixes and planned future growth.
The new facility in Gurnee houses all of Frontier Soups operations, including corporate headquarters, production and warehousing/shipping. It includes significantly larger warehouse space, a full on-site product development and quality control kitchen, larger office space to accommodate growing staffing needs, and upgraded telephone and data systems, said Trisha Anderson, company founder.
In addition, the new production areas allow for layout efficiencies resulting in increased capacity and can accommodate added equipment for anticipated future growth, Anderson said. The company’s new headquarters is just north of its former location for quick access to major highway systems for efficient shipping and to retain Frontier Soups’ experienced workforce, most of whom have been with the company for many years, she added.
“With my son, Matt Anderson, now on board as CEO, we are positioning the company to achieve his strategic plans to leverage our opportunities for accelerated growth,” Anderson said. “These opportunities include increased interest in our soups as the grocery segment actively seeks products for natural sets along with continued growth in specialty. Because our soups have no salt added, we stand out as a healthier choice for consumers who like that our mixes allow them to control the amount of sodium,” she added.
“Our growth has also been driven by consumers who want a convenience product that can accommodate a variety of dietary needs, but with some cooking involved that allows them a bit of creative flexibility and offers them the satisfaction of simple home preparation.”
Frontier Soups produces soup mixes accommodating a variety of consumer tastes and dietary needs. No salt is added, and the mixes contain no preservatives, artificial ingredients or MSG. The company, which has two lines of soup mixes, offers 13 vegetarian options and 30 of its soups are gluten-free.
Since 1986, Frontier Soups has offered aspiring and accomplished home cooks a shortcut to healthy, homemade meals with 36 non-GMO soups, stews, chili and chowders inspired by the finest traditions in American regional cuisine.
