Exciting Speakers at Natural Products Expo

The organizers of the Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, California have announced an exciting line-up of speakers for the educational seminars. The list includes the following speakers:

 

Friday Keynote Speaker:

 

Dr. David Perlmutter, Author of "Grain Brain" 

Dr. David Perlmutter focuses on one of the biggest problems in the Healthcare crisis which is brain health. Dementia, a largely preventable malady, now ranks highest in annual healthcare expenditures in the U.S. Brain health function is fundamentally linked to nutrition. Dr. Perlmutter is a board certified physician, scientific researcher, writer, instructor, business man, and entrepreneur who has seen brain health and its challenges and opportunities from a unique perspective. 

 

 

Saturday Keynote Speaker:

 

Mark Bittman, New York Times

 

Mark Bittman is a Times Opinion columnist, the lead food writer for The Times Magazine, and a columnist for the Times Dining section. His books include the bestselling How to Cook Everything and the groundbreaking Vegan Before 6 P.M. Gary Hirshberg, Chairman, Founding Partner: Just Label It

Gary Hirshberg is the husband of writer Meg Hirshberg and the father of three yogurt eaters. Robyn O’Brien, Founder: Do Good and AllergyKids Foundation

Robyn O’Brien is a former financial analyst who triggered an allergic reaction in the food industry when she asked the question: “Are we allergic to food or what’s been done to it?” She has helped lead a food awakening among consumers, corporations and politicians. Food companies responding to Robyn’s work include Kraft, Coca Cola, Burger, Chipotle, Nestle, Target and others.

 

 

Walter Robb, Co-CEO, Whole Foods Market

With a long and varied entrepreneurial history in natural foods ranging from retailer to farmer to consultant, Walter Robb joined Whole Foods Market in 1991. Assuming the Co-CEO role in 2010, Walter currently oversees six of Whole Foods Market’s 12 regions as well as purchasing, marketing, distribution and quality standards and serves on the Whole Planet Foundation Board of Directors. In addition, Robb served two years on the Board of Directors of the Organic Trade Association and currently serves on the advisory board of the Organic Center for Education and Promotion.

 

 

Tom Philpott, Food and Agriculture Correspondent, Mother Jones 

Tom Philpott is food and agriculture correspondent for Mother Jones and the cofounder of Maverick Farms, a center for sustainable food education in Valle Crucis, North Carolina. For five years, Philpott served as a columnist, food editor, and senior food writer for the online environmental site Grist. His work on food politics has appeared in The New York Times, Newsweek, Orion, OnEarth, Gastronomica, and the Guardian.
