Longtime Employee Jennifer Pillari Purchases Oriental Herb Co.

With students starting off the school year, germs are spreading and immune systems need support. Under new ownership by longtime employee Jennifer Pillari, Oriental Herb Co. (OHCO) is continuing a 21-year tradition of providing time-honored Chinese remedies to modern American consumers with an “East-meets-West” approach to holistic health that has earned Cold Snap the top-rated spot on Amazon’s natural cold & flu relief list, based on customer reviews. http://click.icptrack.com/icp/relay.php?r=60490700&msgid=1962619&act=CKGG&c=607027&destination=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ohco.com

Soon after receiving her Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine in 2006 from Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, Colo., Jennifer Pillari landed her “dream job” with OHCO. “I don’t think I had worked there more than a few months when the idea, or hope, of eventually owning the business cropped up,” said Pillari. “I feel honored and blessed that it worked out, and I can’t wait to see what the future brings for OHCO.”

Jennifer, who with her husband Andy purchased the business from original founders Donn and Hannah Hayes, has begun to bring her own vision to the business while celebrating its roots. In addition to a brand and packaging refresh, social media push and plans for a website upgrade, Pillari plans on expanding OHCO’s product line, along with retail and online and availability to help consumers better address seasonal health concerns with OHCO remedies.

Cold Snap, OHCO’s flagship herbal remedy and the brand’s most popular product, recently updated its packaging, but its original, best-selling formula remains unchanged. All formulas are non-GMO and ingredients are “double-tested for heavy metals, pesticides or other contaminants,” Pillari attested.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the effectiveness of the flu vaccine for the 2014-15 flu season was only 23 percent. Pillari and her team feel they can do better, and with regular use of Cold Snap, she asserted, there will be less school or work missed, and “less concern over what your kids may have been sharing with their friends.”

For families looking at alternatives to the one-size-fits-all approach of Western over-the-counter and other treatments, Cold Snap’s blend of 20 herbs and individualized directions can provide effective support in a family’s natural health program.

“My experience with Cold Snap was initially like many of your other customers; if I take it at the very first signs of a cold and follow the ‘another way’ instructions, my cold is usually stopped and does not develop all the normal cold symptoms,” reported Ron Gordon, video game pioneer and former president of Atari. “However, I have also found some other beneficial uses for Cold Snap: Most every spring, I come down with a nasty case of spring fever. A few years ago, I tried using Cold Snap when this spring allergy would visit me. The results again were excellent and Cold Snap is now my spring fever remedy. Many friends now rely upon and keep Cold Snap ready and available in their homes,” he added.

Beyond the company’s already strong presence on Amazon, OHCO recently expanded distribution nationwide to 2,200 Kroger stores, as well as specialty grocers including Lucky’s, Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage, Whole Foods Market, Sprouts Farmers Market, Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy, and other leading retailers of natural, organic and non-GMO products.

Since 1994, OHCO, Oriental Herb Co., based in Lafayette, Colo., has provided consumers with a complete line of all-natural traditional Chinese herbal remedies, including Eye Ching, Stomach Chi, Chi’ll Out, OHCO Motion, and Cold Snap. Before acquiring the company, Jennifer Pillari was a longtime employee and OHCO “ambassador” who apprenticed with OHCO’s original founders. Pillari, who received her Master of Science in Oriental Medicine (Traditional Chinese Medicine) from Southwest Acupuncture College in Boulder, is also a licensed acupuncturist. OHCO’s flagship product, Cold Snap, is Amazon’s top-rated cold & flu relief product, based on customer reviews, and is available online at OHCO.com and Amazon.com, and in more than 2,300 grocery stores across the United States ,including Kroger, Whole Foods Market, Natural Grocers by Vitamin Cottage, Sprouts Farmers Market, Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy, and other leading natural, organic and specialty retailers.
