Three Companies Win Summer 2012 Eco Choice Awards

Three companies – Iskin, Are You? and Box Play for Kids – have been named winners of the sixth semi-annual Eco Choice Awards recognizing the most innovative and environmentally responsible gift, home and lifestyle products at the summer 2012 New York International Gift Fair (NYIGF), hosted this week.

For the first time, voting took place online for the Eco Choice Awards, co-sponsored by NYIGF and GREENRetailer magazine. According to Christian Falkenberg, NYIGF director and GLM vice president, “The competition’s first ever online balloting was very well-received and a record number of votes were cast. From among 24 finalists, the three winning products really resonated with voters and were clear winners.”

Iskin, from Buenos Aires, was recognized for the most innovative product for its “Flora” flower vase cover made of 100 percent organic wool. Two other finalists for the award were Europe2 You for its mirror sieve and Tesoros for its woven paper ribbon.

Robbinsville, N.J.-based Are You? received the award for the most sensitive use of materials for its 100 percent tree-free cotton note cards. Category finalists included Alegria for its golden grass handbag and Woolbuddy for its felting giraffe.

Phoenix-based Box Play for Kids was awarded the most sellable product for its sticker sets, which transform cartons into playthings. Category finalists included Article 22 for its exterior story triple bracelet set and Sea Stones for its drink chillers.

NYIGF is the nation’s premier gift, home and lifestyle marketplace, with 2,800-plus exhibiting companies featuring both design-driven home fashion products and complementary giftware.
