(Parma, 19 May 2016) - Cibus 2016, the international Italian food fair held in Parma (Italy) ends with three thousand exhibitors spread over 130 thousand square metres and 72 thousand visitors, of whom 16 thousand were foreign operators and 2,200 top buyers (in 2014 there were 67 thousand visitors and 13 thousand foreign operators).
The next event is “Cibus Connect” in April 2017, which includes an international forum with food and drink experts from the world over, as well as a scaled down exhibition platform to favour matching with large-scale retailing, and Cibus2018.
An observatory to monitor 'Italiansounding'food names for counterfeit goods sold abroad was launched on the last day. The project aims to create a qualitative-quantitative instrument for the entire Italian food and agriculture industry. In collaboration with the industry and farm ministries, the observatory will provide an overview of the dynamics of the food and agriculture industry in foreign markets with a focus on areas to which Italy exports the most and will monitor 'Italian-sounding' trends. The observatory will make use of high-level scientific consultancy and statistical data from accredited sources.
