Chukar Cherries Debuts Pouch Design, New Product

Chukar Cherries of Prosser, Wash., has debuted new zip pouches for its entire line of dried fruit, chocolates and energy mixes, and introduced dark chocolate Tangerine Cherries to its collection of chocolate-covered cherries, berries and nuts.

Chukar’s new zip pouches highlight the company’s foundation in the Northwest by featuring illustrations by Washington artist Jim Hays. In addition to the illustrations of cherries and berries, the packaging boasts an eye-catching design, zip tops, large product windows and the same size and weight as previous pouches.

Pam Montgomery, Chukar’s founder and CEO, said, “The new packages were designed to make shopping easier for our customers. Each of our product lines now have their own unique packaging style with further differentiation between each flavor.” 

Chukar’s new Tangerine Cherries consist of a naturally dried Montmorency tart cherry covered in a signature blend of semisweet chocolate with natural citrus flavor. The confections are finished with a dust of cocoa powder. Like all Chukar’s chocolates, Tangerine Cherries are made by hand in copper kettles using an Old-World process. 

Chukar’s Tangerine Cherries and newly designed pouches can be purchased at company-owned stores in Pike Place Market, Seattle; Leavenworth, Wash.; Prosser, Wash.; and online.  In 1988, the family founded Chukar Cherries at a cherry orchard in the Yakima Valley of Washington.
