May Contain Nuts, a traditional English style sweet shop, has been opened inside the Tiger Hotel by fellow Brits Glyn Laverick and David Robinson. The store is an amalgam of their memories of the best British sweet shops from their childhoods in England and Europe.
Robinson is no stranger to the candy business having designed and opened six other candy stores across the Midwest and consulting on countless others.
"It's just a really special old time sweet shop with the original walnut cabinets from 1928, it's like you're stepping back in time" Laverick said about the new store in the Tiger Hotel's historic lobby.
May Contain Nuts will offer a broad selection of popular and hard-to-find candies, homemade fudge, chocolates and treats. From chocolate-covered gummy bears to sour belts, shoppers will find candies suited for all ages. May Contain Nuts will also offer a fine assortment of fresh fudge made locally by Robinson's Capital Candy store in Jefferson City as well as a wide variety of hand-selected truffles.
May Contain Nuts is in the lobby of the historic Tiger Hotel, a luxurious AAA Four Diamond boutique hotel in the heart of Columbia, Mo., just steps away from The University of Missouri's Columbia campus as well as many restaurants, bars and stores in Columbia's downtown district.
