Demand for global resources has resulted in a 100 percent growth in Artisan Resource, a first-of-its-kind market offering U.S.-based volume importers, direct import retailers and wholesalers the opportunity to meet with international artisanal producers.
The third semiannual edition of Artisan Resource will showcase approximately 100 companies when it returns this summer to New York, Aug. 18-20, at Passenger Ship Terminal’s Pier 94 in conjunction with NY NOW, the Market for Home & Lifestyle (formerly the New York International Gift Fair).
“Since the winter 2013 market, Artisan Resource has doubled in size,” said Allison Rober, Artisan Resource sales manager. “We’re still in talks with several additional countries, so we’ll likely see even more growth before the summer 2013 market opens.”
Seven countries will bring multiple companies to the event as part of government-sponsored pavilions. Companies from 24 countries – the largest international representation in the history of Artisan Resource – will exhibit in the summer 2013 market. Seven countries are brand-new to the market: Cameroon, Japan, Palestine, Panama, Tunisia, Uganda and Uzbekistan. Returning countries include: Afghanistan, Bolivia, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Haiti, Guatemala, India, Kenya, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Pakistan, Peru, the Philippines, South Africa and Vietnam.
To date, more than 100 companies, all of which have been selected for their experience in meeting export demands and commitment to design innovation, cultural preservation, social enterprise and sustainability, have confirmed their participation in Artisan Resource.
