1908 Brands, a Boulder, Colo.-based manufacturer of sustainable and natural brands, has acquired Appleooz effective May.
Appleooz, founded by Mark Wood in 2005, shares the same values as 1908 Brands in striving to provide healthy products to replace less-than-healthy alternatives without sacrificing taste or affordability. Appleooz produces dehydrated apple chips, a gluten-free and kid-friendly snack.
Through focusing on local distributors, using apples that have imperfections and would otherwise be thrown away, and providing product to school districts at dramatically reduced prices, Wood has grown Appleooz into a well-loved local supporter of the environment and community. Wood also started a Donate Colorado Apples program to help gather apples that would otherwise go uneaten and educate kids on the process of gathering and preparing fresh food.
“I’m very excited about Appleooz joining the 1908 Brands family of natural products,” said Wood. “The marriage of our rapidly growing Colorado brand with an established operational and marketing partner will help take Appleooz to the next level.”
Wood will join the 1908 Brands team as the Appleooz brand manager.
1908 Brands Inc. was founded in 2010 by Steve Savage, the former founder and CEO of Eco-Products. As a rapidly growing manufacturer of natural products, 1908 Brands will eventually produce and manufacture dozens of brands across various retail channels. With the addition of Appleooz, 1908 Brands now produces, manufactures, and manages four brands: Boulder Clean, producers of naturally clean cleaning and laundry products; CompoKeeper, makers of an innovative compost collection bin to make kitchen composting easy and clean; and Wholly Bites, producers of nutrient-packed, gluten-free, paleo-friendly and tasty snack clusters.
